JAPAN SHOTOKAN KARATE ASSOCIATION
Established by Shihan Keigo Abe 10th February 1999
Shihan Abe started Karate & Judo at the age of 15 years old.
In 1958 Shihan Abe entered the Japan Karate Association (JKA) as a 4th Dan where he was introduced to Sensei Nakayama who became his grand master.
Sensei Nakayama was taught not only by Master Gichin Funakoshi but also by his son Yoshitaka Funakoshi.
Both the influences of these great Sensei are incorporated into Shihan Abe style of karate & now being influenced to our Karate today at the Blackwater Valley Shotokan Karate with the JSKA.
In 1965 Shihan Abe became a Instructor at the JKA , & progressing to become the Director of Qualification & Technical Director of the JKA Matsuno section retiring in January 1999
During his active Karate years Shihan Abe took 3rd place in the National Championships & participated in the 2nd World Championships held in Paris. With the honour of being captain of the Japanese team Shihan Abe won first place in the JKA Friendship Tournament in 1973.
This success continued achieving 1st Place in the second & third JKF National Championships as representative of Tokyo.
Shihan Abe believes that the purpose of Karate in daily training & the goal is to develop a strong mind & body through this training. Furthermore to contribute to society in general.
