The past

I started my martial arts back in 1982 at  17 years old , where I trained in the  Korean style of TAE KWON DO at Twickenham, South London.

I trained under Sensei Roger Koo who was a 4th Dan at that present time, & graded with Master Rhee Ki Ha  8thDan ( Then), within the UKTA.

Having achieved a Blue belt & STH East medal winner for Kata & Kumite .

Moving out of London into the Hampshire area & starting a family I looked to retrace my martial arts by finding  the style of WADO KAI  in Camberley.

Under the guidance of Sensei Trevor McCabe 4th Dan (Then) .

Sensei McCabe instilled his style of Kumite with a large influence of Ticky Donovan for competitions into myself which I still adopt now along with other influences.

Representing the SKW England squad I gained much international kumite

experience in the Dutch open back in 1994.

Along with winning team & Kumite titles at the SKW ,at Club levels from low grade level to Brown & Black belt level.

Having achieved up to 3rd Kyu Brown belt , my destiny was still not complete!

Present

With the experience & passion to follow my martial arts I found the

Hampshire Shotokan Karate

Under the current guidance of Sensei Stevan Harrison 5th Dan & international examiner, Judge,& referee

All Japan registered with the JSKA .

Following the style of Shotokan Karate with similar roots to my Wado Kai background ,Sensei Harrison

transferred my Karate into the lower stances & strong  postures that credits the  Shotokan  style with its

Traditional roots to Japan.

Grading to Shodan (1st Dan ) Under the JSKA  on 5th May 2001 with Shihan Robert Sidoli  7thDan , Chairman of the JKI .

Grading to Nidan (2nd Dan) Under the JSKA on 3rd December 2005 with Shihan Sidoli 7th Dan & Shihan Jim lewis 7th Dan

Appointed Team England Coach for JSKA UK for the preparations to the 3rd JSKA World Cup in New York July 2006.

Training in the masters camp under Shihan Abe, Sensei Nagaki,Sensei,Sensei Soon Pretorius ,Sensei Hans Muller, Sensei Flint.

The Kumite sessions will always hold great memories for me as the lessons were just so personal.

With the intention of competiting at world level was a lifetime achievement for me in my karate,

Then to achieve the result and honour to represent my club & country in the finals was outstanding to me.

Achieving Silver Medal for Shobu Ippon (Veterans )

5th for Kata

To follow that result was assisting and coaching Jana Gee to become Ladies World Champion, this was a very proud moment to be part of such a great achievement & to know  i had done my job well.

2007 was also a year when representing the KWF GB team in Japan to train and compete in the 4th KWF World Cup in Tokyo under the guidance of Sensei Sidoli achieving a respectful 3rd Place in the Men`s Veterans Kumite.
